Technical Superintendent – Nigeria

About the role

The Technical Superintendent will oversee day‑to‑day maintenance and repair activities for vessels assigned to the fleet in Nigeria. You will ensure technical reliability, manage budgets, and coordinate with crew and subcontractors to maximise vessel utilisation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive maintenance programmes onboard vessels.
• Supervise, coach and instruct chief engineers to align technical management with company standards.
• Oversee repairs, manage crew and subcontractors, and ensure work meets planning, budget and quality requirements.
• Allocate costs for repairs, dockings, damages and modifications accurately.
• Promote SHEQ awareness and monitor safety performance.
• Maintain liaison with classification societies, flag states and other regulatory authorities.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years experience as a technical superintendent, port engineer or technical manager (junior roles also considered).
• Higher or secondary vocational education in mechanical engineering, naval architecture or a related field.
• Previous experience as a chief engineer on offshore support vessels is preferred.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
