Technical Superintendent – Offshore Vessels

About the role

Make your mark as Technical Superintendent Nigeria at Smit Lamnalco. You will manage and execute day‑to‑day maintenance and repair activities of assigned vessels, ensuring technical reliability and fleet utilization within budget and schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute preventive maintenance activities onboard to maintain vessel reliability and avoid downtime.
• Supervise, coach and instruct chief engineers and crew, ensuring technical management meets company expectations.
• Execute repairs, oversee subcontractors, and manage projects within agreed planning, budget and quality standards.
• Allocate and control costs related to repairs, dockings, damages and modifications.
• Guide crew to comply with company standards, specifications and guidelines.
• Promote Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) awareness and lead by example.
• Interface with classification societies, flag states and other regulatory authorities to maintain technical integrity.

Required profile

• Experience as a technical superintendent or technical manager in a similar marine environment.
• Higher or secondary vocational education in mechanical engineering, naval architecture or equivalent.
• Former chief engineer on offshore support vessels preferred.
• At least 7 years verifiable experience as a technical superintendent, port engineer or technical manager (junior candidates also welcome).
• Fluent command of spoken and written English.
