Tax Manager / Unit Head

About the role

The Tax Manager / Unit Head leads the organisation's tax function, ensuring full compliance with all applicable tax laws while driving tax efficiency and supporting overall business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and file corporate tax returns (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, CGT, Education Tax) and ensure timely tax reporting.
• Monitor legislative changes and maintain organisational compliance with tax regulations.
• Develop and implement tax strategies that optimise the company’s tax position and support transactions, acquisitions and restructurings.
• Establish a robust tax risk management framework and conduct periodic health checks.
• Serve as primary liaison with tax authorities, manage audits, investigations and negotiate resolutions.
• Provide tax insights for financial planning, budgeting and accurate tax disclosures in financial statements.
• Lead, mentor and develop the tax team, set performance targets and promote continuous professional development.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with tax authorities, external auditors, consultants and internal business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading tax functions and managing teams of tax professionals.
• Deep knowledge of corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, payroll taxes and related regulations.
• Proven ability to advise senior management on tax risks, opportunities and strategic decisions.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience liaising with tax authorities and handling tax audits or disputes.

Required skills
