Sorting Hub Team Lead (Full Time)

About the role

The Sorting Hub Team Lead supervises and leads a team of sorting hub operators, ensuring efficient handling of incoming and outgoing shipments while driving productivity, quality compliance, and team performance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coach sorting hub operators and senior operators, assigning daily tasks and prioritising workload to meet operational targets.
• Ensure timely scanning at every leg of the shipment journey and drive same‑day shipping targets for Jumia Express.
• Coordinate pickup cut‑off times with 3PL and fleet partners, managing exceptions for delayed or mismatched shipments.
• Train, mentor and performance‑manage staff, enforcing SOPs and safety protocols.
• Monitor sorting equipment, identify maintenance needs and coordinate repairs.
• Conduct quality checks of sorted items to ensure compliance with customer specifications and regulations.
• Resolve escalated operational issues and maintain accurate records of sorting activities.
• Collaborate with Logistics, Warehouse, Network and Customer Service teams to ensure smooth handovers.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to optimise processes and reduce errors.

Required profile

• Experience in sorting hub operations, logistics or warehouse management with demonstrated leadership.
• Proven ability to operate and troubleshoot conveyors, scanners and sorting systems.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in hub operations.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must have NYSC certificate or a valid exemption letter and be based in Abuja.
