Software Engineer (Remote)

About the role

Primote Africa is looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join its remote team on a contractor basis. You will translate business and product requirements into robust technical solutions while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and features.
• Write clean, efficient, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and third‑party services.
• Work with databases ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs and production issues.
• Participate in code reviews and follow best development practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical decision‑making.
• Write and maintain technical documentation.
• Support testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of applications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (preferred).
• 2–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Programming languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, C#, PHP, Go.
• Frameworks: React, Next.js, Node.js, Django, Laravel, Spring Boot.
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis.
• RESTful API design and consumption.
• Version control with Git.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
• Containerisation (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Microservices or distributed systems architecture.
• Agile/Scrum methodology and DevOps practices.
