Shift Leader

About the role

The Shift Leader is responsible for meeting the shift’s budgeted clinker production target while ensuring safe, reliable operations, consistent product quality and cost efficiency at HBM Nigeria’s plant. The role oversees the entire production line from quarry to packing, leads the team in safety compliance and coordinates emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and optimise all stages of the production line, ensuring KPIs are met.
• Enforce HBM Nigeria safety rules through Visible Felt Leadership and oversee team adherence.
• Coordinate plant emergency response, implementing the Emergency Response Plan and evacuation procedures.
• Manage day‑to‑day plant operations on shift, set priorities and direct the shift team.
• Coordinate maintenance activities, receive equipment after repairs and ensure post‑maintenance cleaning.
• Lead short‑ and long‑term plant stoppages, including kiln re‑bricking and major shutdowns.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with environmental standards and housekeeping.
• Guide, train and appraise subordinates, identifying training needs and recommending promotions or disciplinary actions.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead a plant shift team and enforce safety standards.
• Experience in coordinating emergency response and plant turnaround activities.
• Strong focus on operational efficiency, KPI monitoring and corrective action.
• Capability to work with service departments and contractors to maintain plant condition.
