Service Engineer - Heavy Equipment

About the role

O.K. Isokariari (Nigeria) Limited, an engineering, procurement and construction company founded in 1970, is hiring a full-time, on-site Service Engineer in Port Harcourt. The role provides technical support and field service for construction equipment, plant machinery and related systems, including diagnostics, maintenance and repairs, in line with company procedures and HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, identify faults, implement corrective actions and document service activities.
• Collaborate with project teams, workshop staff and vendors to keep equipment reliable and minimise downtime.
• Support commissioning, upgrades and periodic overhauls.
• Report issues to internal stakeholders, recommend preventive maintenance and support continuous improvement.
• Lead the ET Workshop ET Specialist team in electronic diagnostics, ECM calibration, telematics monitoring and electronic control troubleshooting on heavy plant machinery.

Required profile

• B.Sc., B.Eng. or HND in Mechanical, Automotive or Plant Engineering; a relevant technical qualification is preferred.
• Experience with construction equipment, asphalt and quarry plants or industrial machinery in an EPC or civil engineering environment is an advantage.
• Minimum of 10-15 years in heavy equipment maintenance management, with at least 4 years in a supervisor or managerial role overseeing high-volume workshops.
• Demonstrated adherence to HSE standards and ability to work on-site in demanding environments.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar, Komatsu, JCB, Mercedes-Benz and Mack heavy equipment, engines, hydraulic pumps and electronic control modules.
• Hands-on use of diagnostic software such as CAT Electronic Technician / ET Specialist and Cummins Insite.
• Use of CMMS/ERP workshop management platforms.
• Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and electromechanical systems.
