Senior Trade Finance Specialist

About the role

Our client, a leading commercial bank in Yola, Adamawa, is looking for an experienced Senior Trade Finance Specialist. You will manage and expand the bank's trade finance portfolio, advise corporate clients on international trade transactions, and ensure strict regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, structure and manage trade finance products such as Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Documentary Collections and Supply Chain Finance.
• Provide expert advice to corporate clients on their international trade financing needs.
• Assess and mitigate risks associated with trade finance transactions, adhering to bank policies and standards like UCP 600 and ISBP.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, identifying opportunities for deeper engagement.
• Collaborate with relationship managers and internal departments to deliver integrated financial solutions.
• Monitor market trends and regulatory changes affecting trade finance.
• Ensure efficient processing, settlement and due‑diligence of trade finance transactions.
• Support training initiatives on trade finance products and services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, International Business or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist) is highly desirable.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in trade finance, international banking or a related role.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and structure complex trade finance solutions.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment and creditworthiness evaluation.
