Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Armorsil West Africa is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across its construction operations in Nigeria. The role involves advising senior management, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing contractual and litigation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to Executive Management and the Board on corporate governance and statutory compliance.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including supply, distribution, vendor, employment, joint venture, NDAs, MOUs, service, construction, procurement, lease and procurement contracts.
• Coordinate and supervise all group litigation, liaise with external counsel, and develop strategies to minimise business disruption.
• Ensure compliance with CAC, FIRS, immigration, labour, tax, industry‑specific, environmental and corporate governance regulations.
• Advise HR on disciplinary matters, draft policies, manage employment disputes and support collective negotiations.
• Identify legal risks, maintain risk registers and develop preventive legal strategies.
• Protect and manage the company’s intellectual property, trademarks and trade secrets.
• Conduct legal due diligence on property acquisitions, review lease agreements and resolve land‑related issues.
• Support company secretarial functions, including statutory filings and register maintenance.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 48 months of relevant legal experience.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian laws and regulations affecting construction and corporate activities.
• Proven ability to handle corporate governance, contract management and litigation matters.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
