Senior Legal Associate (Fintech/Payments)

About the role

Our client, a technology company focused on payments solutions for African businesses, is seeking a Senior Legal Associate to join its Legal team. You will ensure that products and operations comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards while driving efficient legal workflows in a fast‑growing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements such as merchant, partner, NDA, and vendor contracts.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, and playbooks to improve consistency.
• Maintain organized, audit‑ready contract repositories and documentation systems.
• Support corporate governance, legal operations, litigation assistance, and advisory services.
• Collaborate with fraud/dispute, HR, finance, sales, product, engineering, and customer support teams.
• Drive process improvements and scalable legal workflows.

Required profile

• Law degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in financial services or fintech is a strong asset.
• Tech‑savvy, comfortable with Microsoft Office and legal technology tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Strong project‑management abilities, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Analytical mindset, sound judgment in ambiguous situations, and a results‑oriented attitude.
