Senior Legal Associate (Fintech/Payments)

About the role

Our client, a technology company delivering payment solutions across Africa, is seeking a Senior Legal Associate to join its Legal team. The role involves ensuring that products and business operations comply with legal, regulatory and ethical standards while supporting multiple functions in a fast‑growing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as merchant, partner, NDA and vendor contracts.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, clause libraries and playbooks to improve efficiency.
• Maintain organized, audit‑ready contract repositories and documentation systems.
• Provide legal support to cross‑functional teams including fraud/disputes, HR, finance, sales, product, engineering and customer support.
• Assist the Head of Legal with corporate governance, litigation support and advisory services.
• Drive process improvements and scalable legal workflows using legal technology tools.

Required profile

• Law degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in the financial services or fintech sector is a strong asset.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and exercise sound judgment in a high‑growth environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong stakeholder management.
• Action‑oriented, analytical and comfortable working in ambiguous situations.
