Senior Legal Associate (Fintech/Payments)

About the role

Our client, a technology company focused on payments solutions for African businesses, is seeking a Senior Legal Associate to ensure products and operations comply with legal, ethical and regulatory standards. The role involves contract management, corporate governance, litigation support and driving scalable legal workflows in a fast‑growing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including merchant, partner, NDA and vendor contracts.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, clause libraries and playbooks to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Maintain organized, audit‑ready contract repositories and documentation systems.
• Support corporate governance, legal operations and litigation matters across the business.
• Collaborate with fraud/disputes, HR, finance, sales, product, engineering and customer support teams.

Required profile

• Law degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in financial services or fintech is a strong asset.
• Proven ability to work in a high‑growth, regulated environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical judgment and project‑management capabilities.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite.
• Legal technology tools such as contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems and workflow automation.
• Contract drafting, negotiation and interpretation.
