Senior Compliance Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Compliance Officer to design, implement and continuously improve enterprise‑wide compliance programs across all business lines. The position is remote within Lagos and will report directly to senior management, ensuring the organization meets all regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and enhance compliance programs across the enterprise.
• Monitor regulatory developments and update frameworks to reflect new laws and standards.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulators, managing communications, reviews and examinations.
• Identify, assess and mitigate compliance and regulatory risks through regular risk assessments, audits and gap analyses.
• Develop, review and enforce compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Lead compliance training and awareness initiatives for staff and management.
• Prepare periodic compliance reports for senior management and the Board, maintaining thorough documentation of activities and remediation actions.
• Oversee internal investigations of compliance breaches and implement corrective and preventive measures.
• Provide advisory support to executive leadership and business teams on regulatory expectations and obligations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Compulsory ACAMS certification.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in compliance, risk management or regulatory roles, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
• Ability to work remotely from Lagos.
