Senior Civil Engineer – Power Infrastructure

About the role

The Senior Civil Engineer will provide engineering support for civil, structural and geotechnical aspects of power generation and transmission projects. The role involves site assessments, feasibility studies and technical reviews to ensure designs meet project and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in site‑selection workflows, delivering civil, terrain and logistical input.
• Collaborate on multidisciplinary feasibility studies, supplying civil engineering data and evaluations.
• Conduct and validate topographic and boundary surveys using standard geomatics equipment.
• Perform site inspections to assess terrain, right‑of‑way clearances and construction constraints.
• Review technical reports, geotechnical investigations and environmental documentation for compliance.
• Gather and interpret soil mechanics, seismic risk and hydrological data to inform site preparation.
• Verify civil and structural drawings, calculations and blueprints submitted by EPC contractors against national and international codes.
• Review design documentation for solar PV, thermal, hydroelectric plants, transmission lines and substation civil elements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of civil engineering experience, with a focus on power generation and transmission projects.

Required skills

• Topographic and boundary surveying.
• Operation of geomatics equipment.
• Soil mechanics and geotechnical analysis.
• Seismic risk assessment.
• Hydrological and drainage study interpretation.
• Design verification and review of civil/structural drawings.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, ACI, AISC, ASCE and BS standards.
• Foundation design for solar PV, thermal and hydroelectric facilities.
• Transmission tower and substation civil layout review.
