Sawmill & Timber Operations Manager

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Sawmill & Timber Operations Manager to oversee daily activities at our sawmill and timber site in Calabar. The role involves supervising staff, coordinating timber truck movements and ensuring smooth production while maintaining safety and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise daily activities across the sawmill and timber operations.
• Manage and monitor staff to ensure duties are properly carried out.
• Supervise the movement and activities of timber trucks.
• Monitor production activities and maintain smooth workflow.
• Track timber, materials, equipment and operational activities.
• Ensure staff follow operational procedures and safety requirements.
• Identify and report issues, losses, damages or irregularities promptly.
• Maintain basic records of daily activities, production, staff and truck movements.
• Ensure equipment and work areas are properly maintained.
• Promote discipline, accountability and efficiency among staff.
• Coordinate with management on operational needs and challenges.
• Perform other duties related to the smooth running of the operations.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in sawmill, timber, transport, forestry, construction or related operations.
• Strong ability to supervise and coordinate people.
• Highly responsible, observant and detail‑oriented.
• Good communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Ability to keep basic operational records.
• Willingness to live and work in a village or rural environment in Calabar.
• University degree not mandatory; relevant practical experience will be considered.
