Sectional Head, Instrumentation

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited is looking for a Sectional Head, Instrumentation for its Ibese Plant. The role oversees the maintenance, reliability and calibration of field instrumentation, control systems and monitoring devices across the plant, leads preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and manage the operational budget, and leads the instrumentation team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, troubleshooting and reliability of field instrumentation on cement plant assets such as stackers, reclaimers, crushers, vertical mills, coolers, conveyors, bag filters and process fans, and keep process control loops (pressure, flow, level, temperature, vibration) running smoothly.
• Maintain hands-on knowledge of PLC systems, PCS7 architecture, servers, switches, CPU modules and communication networks, and manage weighing systems and process analyzers through preventive checks and calibration.
• Keep backups, documentation and communication links between QCX, Gamma Matrix/CBX, Robo Lab, ARL X-Ray systems and the central plant control systems up to date.
• Manage calibration schedules in line with ISO/IMS standards, keep technical documentation (drawings, manuals, loop diagrams, indexes) and enforce bypass governance with Plant Director / Chief General Manager approval.
• Lead preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, perform root cause analysis on failures, track breakdowns and stoppages in SAP, and oversee the full SAP work order lifecycle.
• Prepare purchase requisitions, monitor stock, procure critical spares, manage the instrumentation budget (consumables, AMCs, calibration tools, improvement projects) and lead, mentor and develop the instrumentation team while promoting a zero accident culture.

Required profile

• HND, BE or B.Tech in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of total industrial plant experience, including at least 10 years in a modern cement plant.
