Retail Manager / Buyer

About the role

The Retail Manager / Buyer will lead Alma’s flagship store, overseeing the full retail cycle from product selection and visual merchandising to team leadership and customer relationship management. This senior floor‑facing position blends commercial buying expertise with operational oversight to drive sales and brand experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the buying process across all categories, including sourcing, selection, pricing and Open‑to‑Buy management.
• Develop and implement visual merchandising standards, floor layout and product placement in line with brand direction.
• Drive store performance by meeting targets for conversion, average transaction value and units per transaction.
• Recruit, onboard and continuously train the sales team on product knowledge, selling behaviours and service standards.
• Build and maintain long‑term client relationships, including VIP and personal‑shopping support.
• Oversee daily store operations such as opening/closing, scheduling and floor coverage.
• Collaborate with the Inventory Manager on stock health, replenishment and loss prevention.
• Report weekly on sales, product movement and team KPIs to senior management.
• Support new product launches, seasonal campaigns and in‑store activations.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a senior retail or buying role, preferably within fashion or lifestyle.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing a team.
• Strong commercial awareness, trend sensitivity and buying instincts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both clients and staff.
• Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
