About the role
We are looking for an experienced software engineer to help build and evaluate large‑language‑model (LLM) datasets that simulate real‑world software engineering tasks. You will work remotely with Turing’s AI team, combining hands‑on coding with research to improve how LLMs interact with code.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues from popular open‑source libraries.
- Set up and automate development environments, including Docker containerisation.
- Assess unit‑test coverage and quality of the selected repositories.
- Run and modify codebases locally to benchmark LLM performance on bug‑fixing scenarios.
- Collaborate with researchers to identify challenging repositories and design evaluation tasks.
- Optionally lead junior engineers on project work.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Tech‑lead or senior‑level competence with complex codebases.
- Experience working with public GitHub repositories and open‑source projects.
- Ability to work at least 20 hours per week with a 4‑hour overlap in PST.
Required skills
- Strong proficiency in Ruby (or comparable language such as Go).
- Solid experience with Git version control.
- Proficiency in Docker and basic CI/CD pipeline setup.
