Relationship Officer

About the role

The Relationship Officer will drive customer acquisition, nurture existing client relationships and support the bank's sales and business development initiatives. This full‑time position is based in Abuja (Marina) and reports to the senior management team.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new customers through referrals, networking, field visits and market research.
• Build and maintain long‑term professional relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Conduct regular engagement activities to understand client needs and uncover business opportunities.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, providing timely support and promoting retention.
• Drive sales of financial products, generate qualified leads and convert prospects into active customers.
• Maintain a robust sales pipeline, meet acquisition and revenue targets, and identify cross‑selling opportunities.
• Participate in marketing campaigns, networking events and field business‑development initiatives.
• Manage assigned customer accounts, monitor activity, support onboarding and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.

Required profile

• Entry‑level candidates with at least 24 months of experience in customer relationship, sales or banking.
• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain professional client relationships.
• Understanding of customers' financial needs, business activities and transaction patterns.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
