Quality Control Officer

About the role

The Quality Control Officer will ensure that all raw materials, packaging, and finished food products meet strict quality and safety standards. You will work closely with production and laboratory teams to maintain product consistency and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and test incoming raw materials (spices, salts, starches, flavourings, colours, tomato concentrate) against approved specifications.
• Verify packaging quality, dimensions, printing, sealing and suitability.
• Conduct in‑process quality checks during production of seasoning cubes, powders, tomato paste and jollof spices.
• Perform physical and chemical laboratory tests (pH, moisture, Brix, weight variation) and coordinate microbiological testing.
• Monitor GMP, hygiene, HACCP and NAFDAC/SON compliance throughout the factory.
• Document deviations, investigate defects, perform root‑cause analysis and follow up on CAPA actions.
• Maintain batch records, laboratory results, inspection reports and prepare regular QC reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in food quality control or a related field.
• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or a related discipline.

Required skills

• Physical and chemical testing (pH, moisture, Brix, weight variation).
• Microbiological testing and laboratory equipment calibration.
• GMP and HACCP compliance.
• Knowledge of NAFDAC and SON food safety regulations.
• Root‑cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
