Purchasing Officer

About the role

Ellasot Consulting is hiring a full-time Purchasing Officer based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The role covers supplier sourcing, order management, quality checks and supplier relationship management within the hospitality and hotel supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and source reliable suppliers and vendors, and obtain and compare quotations to secure competitive pricing.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules and other purchasing conditions.
• Prepare purchase orders and ensure purchases are properly authorised; monitor orders and follow up on timely delivery.
• Inspect delivered goods against specifications and quality standards, and resolve issues such as delayed deliveries, incorrect orders, damaged goods or supplier disputes.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier information, invoices and delivery notes, and build positive supplier relationships.
• Monitor inventory levels, liaise with departments on purchasing needs, and prepare periodic purchasing reports with cost-saving recommendations.
• Ensure all purchasing complies with company policies, budgets and procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum of an OND or HND in Purchasing and Supply, Business Administration, Logistics or a related field.
• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement or a similar role is an advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Knowledge of supplier sourcing, quotation analysis and negotiation techniques.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong numerical, analytical and record-keeping skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
