Purchasing Officer

About the role

ASC Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Onstream Group, is looking for a detail‑oriented Purchasing Officer to manage procurement activities for a client in the maritime industry. The role focuses on sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, handling purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining cost efficiency and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and process purchase requests from all departments.
• Source, evaluate, and onboard suppliers that meet technical and commercial requirements.
• Issue RFQs, RFIs, and tenders; analyse supplier quotations.
• Conduct supplier background checks for quality, reliability and service capability.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines and specifications to achieve best value.
• Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring proper documentation in procurement systems.
• Track orders from issuance to final delivery and monitor logistics performance.
• Maintain up‑to‑date procurement records and supplier database.
• Support cost‑saving initiatives and procurement optimisation strategies.

Required profile

• HND or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
• 3–5 years of procurement or supply‑chain experience, preferably in the marine industry.
• Strong negotiation and vendor‑management abilities.
• Good understanding of procurement processes, sourcing, tendering, logistics and customs procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP tools and procurement systems.
• Data analysis and reporting capability.
• Knowledge of contract management and commercial terms.
