Psychologist / Therapist / Counselor (Full‑time, Owerri)

About the role

HealthPlanet Foundation is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Psychologist/Therapist/Counselor to provide direct mental health support to individuals and groups in Owerri. The role involves conducting assessments, creating care plans, and delivering evidence‑based therapy in a culturally sensitive, trauma‑informed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychological assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide one‑to‑one counseling and group therapy sessions using approaches such as CBT, person‑centered, and trauma‑informed care.
• Facilitate workshops on stress management, emotional resilience, and coping skills.
• Document client progress, maintain confidential records, and ensure ethical practice.
• Collaborate with community partners, schools, employers, and internal teams.
• Participate in outreach activities and contribute to research and program development.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in Psychology, Counseling, Clinical Social Work, or a related field.
• Relevant professional registration or licensure (or eligibility) is strongly preferred.
• Experience delivering individual and group counseling/therapy, including assessment and treatment planning.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and active‑listening skills.
• Ability to work with vulnerable populations across diverse age groups and cultural contexts.
• Organizational and time‑management skills to handle a full‑time caseload.

Required skills

• Proficiency with evidence‑based therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, person‑centered, trauma‑informed care).
• Competence in maintaining accurate, confidential clinical records.
• Basic computer literacy for documentation and reporting.
