Mental Health Practitioner

About the role

HealthPlanet Foundation, a non-profit advancing mental wellness worldwide, is hiring a Mental Health Practitioner for a full-time, on-site position in Owerri. The practitioner provides direct mental health support through individual and group sessions, psychosocial assessments and crisis intervention, while facilitating community workshops, contributing to peer-support programs and collaborating with local partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct mental health support through individual and group sessions, psychosocial assessments and crisis intervention.
• Maintain accurate case records and develop care plans.
• Monitor client progress and refer individuals to appropriate services when needed.
• Facilitate community workshops and support peer-support programs.
• Take part in outreach activities and help collect data for research.
• Contribute to program improvement.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or a related field.
• Experience providing direct mental health or psychosocial support in community or clinical settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities and multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approaches is an advantage.

• Foundational knowledge and practical understanding of psychology.
• Strong communication, active listening and documentation skills.
