Project Officer – Regional Cooperation (OPS2) – Democracy, Governance & Migration

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Abuja seeks a Project Officer for the Regional Cooperation (OPS2) unit within the Democracy, Governance and Migration section. The role supports the identification, implementation and management of EU‑funded projects and programmes, reporting to the Team Leader and working closely with a team of seven professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse developments in the civil‑society sector and contribute to sector reports for the Delegation and EU Headquarters.
• Support policy dialogue with relevant ministries and stakeholders.
• Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of EU‑funded projects and programmes.
• Provide expertise and administrative assistance to the team, ensuring compliance with EU regulations.
• Adapt to evolving delegation needs and occasional atypical working hours.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in political science, international relations, development studies or a related field.
• Experience in policy or sector analysis, preferably within civil‑society or governance contexts.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Team Leader and collaborate within a small, multidisciplinary team.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
