Project Officer – Regional Cooperation (Democracy, Governance & Migration)

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Abuja is seeking a Project Officer for the Regional Cooperation unit within the Democracy, Governance and Migration section (OPS2). The role supports the identification, implementation and management of EU‑funded projects and programmes, reporting to the Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse developments in the civil‑society sector and contribute to sector reports for the Delegation and EU headquarters.
• Support policy dialogue with relevant ministries and stakeholders.
• Assist in the design, monitoring and evaluation of EU‑funded projects.
• Prepare project documentation, progress reports and financial follow‑up.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
• Provide expertise and assistance to the team on project‑related matters.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., political science, international relations, development studies).
• Experience in project implementation and management within an international or development context.
• Ability to analyse sector trends and produce concise reports.
• Strong communication skills and capacity to work in a multicultural environment.
• Flexibility to work occasional atypical hours.
