Project Engineer – Commissioning & Integration

About the role

Daystar Power Group is looking for a highly competent Project Engineer to act as the Commissioning and Integration Engineer. You will be responsible for the full commissioning lifecycle of control and monitoring systems across solar PV, BESS, diesel/gas generator and hybrid power projects, ensuring seamless operation of all subsystems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed operational philosophy, functional design specifications and translate them into control logic, setpoint tables and cause‑and‑effect matrices.
• Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication networks and protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, RS485, Ethernet, CAN/CANbus, MQTT/API.
• Commission solar and battery inverters from OEMs (Sungrow, SMA, Huawei, Fronius, Victron Energy) including firmware updates, communication setup and power control configuration.
• Program and commission hybrid power controllers (Elum Energy, DEIF, Victron GX, PLC‑based systems) and integrate BESS with EMS, PPC, SCADA and protection systems.
• Lead SCADA, EMS & PPC system configuration, ensuring correct data acquisition, tagging and alarm management.
• Provide technical escalation support, root‑cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical engineering within renewable energy or power industry.
• Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Required skills

• SCADA, Power Plant Controller (PPC) and Energy Management System (EMS) expertise.
• Industrial communication protocols: Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, RS485, Ethernet, CAN, CANbus, MQTT/API.
• Inverter configuration for brands such as Sungrow, SMA, Huawei, Fronius, Victron Energy.
• Hybrid power controller programming (Elum Energy, DEIF, Victron GX, PLC).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
