Project Director

About the role

The Project Director will lead the delivery of large‑scale residential and mixed‑use developments for CDL in Lagos. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the overall success of the project, ensuring client satisfaction, regulatory compliance and financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Own the project’s programme, cost, quality, safety and client relationship from inception to handover.
• Act as the primary point of contact for the client at director level and attend all client meetings.
• Chair weekly project review meetings and approve programme reports before issue.
• Make final decisions on design, commercial and schedule matters escalated by the project team.
• Approve change orders, major procurement decisions, subcontract awards and consultant appointments.
• Deliver the project within the agreed budget and timeline.
• Recruit, lead and develop the CDL project team, fostering a culture of accountability and professionalism.
• Manage regulatory relationships through appointed consultants and ensure compliance with Lagos authorities.
• Report project status, risks and financial performance to the Managing Director on a monthly basis.
• Capture lessons learned and institutionalise them across CDL’s construction division.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of construction experience, including at least 8 years in a senior project director or equivalent role.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale residential or mixed‑use projects in Nigeria, preferably Lagos State.
• Deep knowledge of Lagos regulatory environment and utility authorities.
• Experience managing Design‑and‑Build contracts and multidisciplinary consultant teams.
• Membership of NIOB, NSE or similar professional body; COREN registration is an advantage.
