HSE Officer

About the role

The HSE Officer will lead the implementation and enforcement of health, safety and environmental policies across our manufacturing facility in Kano. You will ensure compliance with local and international regulations while fostering a safety‑first culture.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, monitor and enforce HSE policies, SOPs and frameworks in line with the Factories Act, OSHA, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Conduct regular Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), hazard evaluations, workplace inspections and internal audits.
• Lead incident response, root‑cause analysis and compile detailed investigation reports.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, fire drills and PPE compliance programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related field.
• 2–3+ years of experience as an HSE Officer in manufacturing or heavy‑industry environments.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian industrial safety legislation and global standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 implementation
• NEBOSH, IOSH or OSHA 30‑Hour certification
• Risk assessment, JSA/HIRA methodologies
• Incident investigation and root‑cause analysis (RCA)
• CAPA management and audit compliance
• Emergency preparedness and PPE management
• Technical report writing and documentation
