Procurement Officer

About the role

A leading multinational mechanical and electrical contracting company is hiring an experienced Procurement Officer through its recruiter, eRecruiter. The post is based in Lagos and is responsible for managing the efficiency and effectiveness of the purchasing cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Establish market knowledge of products and suppliers.
• Expedite and progress all local orders.
• Raise and initiate all local procurement activities.
• Manage local cash purchases in the company's best interest.
• Monitor current market prices for all items.
• Manage suppliers' cost, quality and delivery performance.
• Locate, analyse and build a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs.
• Negotiate favourable contractual terms and conditions with suppliers.
• Conduct market research and cost analysis.
• Recommend sourcing strategies and process improvements as needed.

Required profile

• Excellent knowledge of supply chain management.
• Knowledge of local markets and working knowledge of item prices.
• Teamwork, effective communication, analytical and numerical skills, time management and good negotiation skills.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
