Procurement Manager

About the role
The Procurement Manager will lead the strategic sourcing and procurement function for a manufacturing plant, overseeing raw materials, packaging, spare parts and critical services. The role ensures cost‑effective purchasing while maintaining quality, supply continuity and compliance with Nigerian regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute a plant‑wide procurement strategy, targeting cost savings and supplier performance.
- Manage the full procurement cycle: supplier identification, qualification, RFQ/RFP, negotiation, contracting and performance monitoring.
- Build and maintain a robust local and international supplier base, conducting regular performance reviews and audits.
- Prepare and control the procurement budget, track expenditures and report savings.
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Logistics and Warehouse teams to align material requirements and optimize inventory.
- Lead, mentor and develop the procurement team, promoting continuous improvement and ethical sourcing.
- Implement procurement technologies and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to streamline processes and improve data visibility.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field; Master’s degree or professional certification (CIPS, CPSM) is a strong advantage.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive procurement experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial role within manufacturing, industrial or construction materials.
- Proven track record in sourcing raw materials for building materials, cement, chemicals or similar heavy industries.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating high‑value contracts and delivering sustained cost reductions.
- Deep understanding of international trade, logistics, customs clearance and the Nigerian procurement landscape.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
- Strong negotiation and supplier performance management capabilities.
