Principal Software Engineer (Payments Platforms)

About the role

FairMoney is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of its Payments Platforms. The team owns the core money‑movement systems, including ledgers, settlement and integrations with banks and processors, ensuring reliability 24/7.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive architecture for distributed, event‑driven payment services.
• Design and implement high‑performance APIs and integrations with external financial partners.
• Lead development in Go (and optionally Java.NET, TypeScript) while ensuring code quality and scalability.
• Own database schema design, query optimisation and transaction handling in PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Implement robust messaging pipelines using Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS or SQS.
• Maintain highly available, observable systems and lead incident response.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership.
• Background in payments, banking or fintech, understanding of ledgers, settlement and reconciliation.
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience with Go, Java.NET or TypeScript.
• Proven experience building distributed, event‑driven systems.
