Principal – Compliance, Wealth & Retail Banking (Nigeria)

About the role

The Principal, Compliance, Wealth & Retail Banking will support the Head of CFCR Advisory in Nigeria, leading the compliance, conduct and financial crime risk advisory team for the Wealth & Retail Banking (WRB) segment. This senior position ensures that WRB processes align with the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework, regulatory expectations, and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Implement compliance, conduct and financial crime policies for WRB processes owned by the CFCR function.
• Identify material risks and notify senior stakeholders of potential regulatory breaches.
• Provide independent second‑line risk control, specialist advice and constructive challenge to the Nigeria RB & WM business.
• Maintain independence, timely escalation of risks, and effective stakeholder relationships.
• Support regulatory relationship management with Nigerian and other relevant regulators.
• Drive high standards of regulatory compliance and deliver initiatives aligned to the RB & WM CFCR advisory performance scorecard.
• Assist the Head of CFCR Advisory in setting and implementing strategy for the WRB function.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in compliance, conduct risk and financial crime within banking or financial services.
• Proven ability to lead advisory teams and influence senior business stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of Nigeria’s regulatory environment and enterprise risk frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
