PR / Business Development Specialist

About the role

Kenex Konsults International is looking for a PR / Business Development Specialist based in Benin City. The role combines public relations and communications with business development, covering executive writing, media relations, client acquisition and partnership outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a year-round PR and communications strategy that turns corporate vision into a clear public message.
• Handle all professional writing, including executive speeches, thought leadership articles, website copy, press releases, media kits and brand messaging.
• Pitch and secure media placements, interviews and feature stories; craft narratives around projects, people and the long-term vision for Benin City and African urbanism.
• Support social media and digital content so that all messaging matches the brand tone.
• Nurture media relations, coordinate press engagements, corporate launches and property showcases, and respond quickly to public sentiment during crises.
• Sourcing new corporate clients and event partnerships through networking and outreach.
• Draft conversion-focused proposals, pitch decks and partnership presentations.
• Monitor industry trends and competition to spot commercial opportunities in the hospitality sector.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, English, Journalism, Public Relations or a related humanities discipline.
• Proven experience in Public Relations or Corporate Communications.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with a strong portfolio of published or past work.
• Direct experience or understanding of hospitality, premium property development or institutional sectors (NGOs/government) is highly desirable.
• Self-starting, well organised and able to meet strict project and media deadlines.
