Power Systems Engineer

About the role

Build-a-Tech Incubator & Workspace is a hardware technology accelerator that equips start-ups with resources, mentorship and tools to build tech products. It is hiring a Power Systems Engineer to design, develop, test and optimise power and energy systems supporting internal projects such as renewable energy, microgrids and battery systems, as well as partner products. The position is on-site in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, full time, with three shift options and a monthly salary of N100,000 to N150,000 depending on experience, qualifications and education.

Key responsibilities

• Design and simulate electrical and power systems (DC/AC)
• Develop battery management and charging subsystems
• Analyse energy requirements and perform load calculations
• Build and test prototypes of solar, hybrid and energy-harvesting systems
• Work with fabrication teams to integrate power systems into products
• Troubleshoot electrical and power system performance issues
• Maintain technical documentation and compliance records

Required profile

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or a related field is preferred; experience and proficiency in the duties and skills listed are weighed above educational qualifications
• Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Required skills

• Strong understanding of electrical systems (DC, AC, batteries, inverters)
• Experience with power electronics, BMS and charge controllers
• Proficiency in schematic capture and simulation tools
• Optional: renewable energy experience, energy monitoring or IoT integration, and field deployment or commissioning experience
