Portfolio Manager

About the role

A leading Nigerian investment management firm, active in Investment Banking, Asset Management, Securities Trading and Investment Research, is looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager. The role covers managing client portfolios, supporting the fixed income trading desk and working with client advisors and the research unit.

Key responsibilities

• Manage assigned portfolios to deliver superior risk-adjusted performance and help run the fixed income trading desk
• Evaluate investment proposals and assist client advisors in profiling clients and recommending asset allocation
• Review client accounts daily, communicate performance quarterly, and prepare daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for management
• Develop investment portfolios by asset allocation and sector analysis, and create an Investment Policy Statement for each client
• Meet high net worth and institutional clients to review and update investment policies and portfolio performance
• Analyse equity, money and foreign exchange markets daily and identify buy and sell opportunities
• Build financial models and valuation methods for public and private equities and fixed income instruments such as treasury bills and bonds
• Work with the research unit on market forecasts and stock recommendations, and perform data mining and database management
• Generate variance reports, rebalance portfolios where needed, and support new product development

Required profile

• First degree in finance or a related discipline such as accounting, business administration or economics
• Relevant postgraduate degree, MBA or professional qualification (CFA, Portfolio Management qualification desirable)
• At least 4-8 years of experience in asset management, investment analysis, advisory, research and/or product development
