Portfolio Intern – SME Portfolio Management

About the role

We are looking for a Portfolio Intern to join the Decision Science team at renmoney in Lagos. The intern will support the Portfolio Management team in monitoring and analysing the performance of SME customers, gaining hands‑on experience in data analytics, reporting and business intelligence within a fast‑growing fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in tracking SME portfolio performance using reports and dashboards.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly portfolio performance reports.
• Analyse portfolio data to identify trends, patterns and improvement opportunities.
• Maintain accurate portfolio records and ensure data integrity.
• Support the creation and upkeep of dashboards using Power BI or similar tools.
• Perform data extraction, cleaning, validation and reconciliation tasks.
• Conduct research and provide analytical insights for portfolio initiatives.
• Collaborate with Portfolio, Risk, Product and Operations teams on data‑driven projects.
• Handle ad‑hoc reporting and business analysis requests while maintaining confidentiality.

Required profile

• Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Successful completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
• Strong academic record and attention to detail.
• Previous internship, academic project or coursework in data analytics, business intelligence, finance or banking is a plus.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
• Familiarity with Power BI, SQL or MySQL.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Data cleaning, validation and research skills.
• Good written and verbal communication.
