Plant/Process Operator

About the role

The Plant/Process Operator will work closely with contractor personnel to ensure a safe and efficient operating environment for production facilities. This role supports start‑up, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance activities while maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with contractors to prepare and maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in Operations Emergency Response activities for the assigned area.
• Support the Systems Completion team during start‑up and commissioning.
• Review work packages for planned maintenance, ensuring proper isolation and safe equipment preparation.
• Endorse Work Permits as Area Operator and, when required, as Isolating Authority.
• Promote teamwork between Maintenance and Operations groups and prioritize work effectively.
• Communicate major issues to the CRT and ensure cross‑area coordination.
• Maintain daily logs, shift changeover notes, and good housekeeping.
• Perform physical tasks safely, including moving drums, lifting, and climbing ladders or silos.
• Carry out minor equipment maintenance and make process adjustments to meet quality standards.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience (minimum 8 years) in industrial operations, preferably in mining, energy or metals.
• Strong safety, health, and environment mindset, able to promote these standards to others.
• Excellent oral and written communication in English.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and interact with diverse teams.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of production operations and processes.
• Proficiency with P&IDs, PFDs and UFDs.
• Ability to read shutdown logic diagrams.
• Advanced understanding of Emergency Preparedness Procedures.
• Experience with safety management tools: Permit to Work (PTW), Step‑back 5x5, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment.
• Familiarity with Controls Integrity (CI) and Production Operations Best Practices (POBP) / Planning & Budgeting (P&B) processes.
