Plant Operator

About the role

Wärtsilä is seeking a Plant Operator to run and maintain a power plant in Calabar. The role involves ensuring safe, efficient operation and meeting production targets while supporting the company’s sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the plant during shifts according to company policies and procedures.
• Maintain power output as designated by management and follow dispatch directives.
• Assist in start‑up, shut‑down and normal operations of plant systems.
• Complete logs and records accurately and communicate equipment condition to shift charge.
• Perform corrective actions during disturbances and execute emergency procedures when needed.

Required profile

• BSc or equivalent degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Mechatronics or related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience working with power plant engines.
• Hands‑on experience in plant operations and maintenance.
