Operations Manager – Remote (US Startup Back‑Office)

About the role

Chore runs the back‑office for US startup founders, handling HR, payroll, finance and compliance. As an Operations Manager you will work directly with founders to manage their critical operational matters, owning the day‑to‑day processes that keep their businesses running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple client back‑offices, coordinating HR, finance, payroll and compliance tasks.
• Handle tactical requests such as tax filings, NDA coordination, and vendor negotiations.
• Provide strategic guidance on compensation benchmarks and operational best practices.
• Research and recommend cost‑effective tools and vendors for early‑stage, bootstrapped startups.
• Contribute to internal knowledge bases, SOPs, dashboards and other operational improvements.

Required profile

• 2+ years experience interfacing with clients or external parties, responsible for outcomes.
• Strong written and spoken communication, able to present clearly to founders.
• High agency, proactive problem‑solving and ability to work independently under US business hours.
• Detail‑oriented, comfortable with frequent context switching and high‑pressure environments.
