Operations Geologist

About the role

Eni is seeking an Operations Geologist to join Nigerian Agip Exploration Ltd. in Abuja. You will provide real‑time geological support to drilling, completion and production operations, ensuring safe, efficient and economically optimised well delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide real‑time geological support during drilling, including wellsite monitoring, interpretation of cuttings, cores, mud logs, wireline logs and LWD/MWD data.
• Analyse gas readings, lithology, formation pressure and drilling parameters to identify geological changes and wellbore risks.
• Correlate geological information with subsurface models and offset wells to guide well placement, trajectory decisions and geosteering.
• Prepare and review well prognoses, geological programmes and end‑of‑well reports, ensuring accurate data acquisition, quality control and documentation.
• Liaise with drilling contractors, logging contractors and service providers to deliver geological activities and manage hazards.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Geology, Petroleum Engineering, Geophysics or related discipline.
• Significant experience in oil and gas drilling, completion and exploration activities.
• Proven ability to integrate geological, petrophysical and geophysical data for reservoir characterisation.
• Strong problem‑solving, teamwork and decision‑making skills.

Required skills

• Drilling and completion operations, including high‑profile drilling and rigless completions.
• Geological data interpretation: cuttings, cores, mud logs, wireline logs, LWD/MWD, AVO and borehole seismics.
• Petrophysics, geochemistry, petrography, sedimentology, stratigraphy and structural geology.
• Reservoir modelling, well production optimisation and data management.
