About the role
The Nuclear Medicine Radiographer will deliver safe, high‑quality PET and SPECT imaging at AMCE Abuja, primarily focusing on PET/CT for oncology and other clinical indications. The role involves patient preparation, radiopharmaceutical handling, image acquisition, processing and ensuring radiation protection and compassionate care.
Key responsibilities
- Perform PET/CT examinations, applying authorised tracer protocols and coordinating injection, uptake and acquisition times with radiopharmacy and clinical teams.
- Conduct SPECT, planar and hybrid imaging studies, selecting appropriate collimators, energy windows and acquisition parameters.
- Verify patient identity, consent and clinical history; screen for pregnancy/breastfeeding and manage tracer‑specific preparation.
- Handle radiopharmaceuticals safely, measure activity, maintain traceable records and manage radioactive waste.
- Execute equipment quality‑control checks, troubleshoot basic faults and participate in image‑quality audits.
- Document examinations, transfer images to PACS/RIS and communicate any delays or technical issues to the multidisciplinary team.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or related field with valid RRBN registration and practising licence.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical radiography experience, including recent hands‑on PET/CT work.
- Certification in PET/CT and SPECT imaging; postgraduate or advanced nuclear‑medicine training is desirable.
- Demonstrated competence in oncology imaging, radiopharmaceutical workflow, equipment QC and PACS/RIS documentation.
