Network Security and Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Techware Professional Services Ltd, an IT company delivering end-to-end IT services across Nigeria and West Africa since 2017, is hiring a full-time Network Security and Infrastructure Engineer based in Abuja. The engineer designs, implements and manages secure network infrastructures for enterprise clients, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and other connectivity solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and security events, perform regular vulnerability assessments and respond to incidents to minimise downtime and risk.
• Configure and maintain security controls, and document network and security architectures.
• Perform system updates and patches, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to support project delivery and service improvement.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot complex issues and implement best practices for high availability, disaster recovery and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience.
• Ability to work on-site in Abuja, collaborate in a team and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with enterprise clients in sectors such as banking, telecom or government is beneficial.

Required skills

• Strong foundation in network engineering: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs and WAN/LAN design.
• Firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, security policies and access control.
• Server and infrastructure management, including operating systems, virtualisation and storage.
• Monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting with network and security tools and dashboards.
• Security frameworks, risk assessment, incident response and documentation of architectures and technical reports.
• Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Security+, CEH or CISSP are an advantage.
