National Sales Manager

About the role

The National Sales Manager will drive Johnvents FMCG’s commercial vision across Nigeria, overseeing the entire field sales organisation. Reporting to senior leadership, you will translate national sales strategies into operational excellence at territory, area and regional levels, ensuring market coverage and revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• Direct implementation of national sales plans, managing the 4Ps (Presence, Placement, Pricing, Promotion) across all regions and monitoring volume and revenue targets.
• Optimise route‑to‑market structures, including van fleet deployment, sub‑distribution models and direct‑to‑retail initiatives, while identifying and penetrating market “white spaces”.
• Recruit, train and coach a high‑impact field force, establishing performance management frameworks, incentive schemes and a culture of integrity.
• Drive data‑led performance by championing Sales Force Automation and CRM adoption, conducting regular business reviews and using analytics to adjust tactics and reward top territories.

Required profile

• 10+ years progressive FMCG sales experience, with at least 5 years in a regional or national leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or related field; MBA or professional sales certifications a plus.
• Deep knowledge of Nigeria’s informal trade, street vending and last‑mile distribution networks.
• Proven ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams and manage P&L, trade budgets and distributor relationships.
