Molecular Biologist - Molecular Diagnostics

About the role

A full-time Molecular Biologist position in Abuja, focused on molecular diagnostics and laboratory operations. The role covers performing molecular tests, maintaining quality control and supporting continuous improvement of laboratory processes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform molecular diagnostic procedures, including PCR-based assays and related molecular techniques
• Extract, process and analyse nucleic acids from biological samples
• Prepare, label and manage reagents, buffers and laboratory consumables
• Operate, monitor and maintain molecular laboratory equipment
• Follow established molecular testing protocols and laboratory workflows
• Implement contamination prevention and quality control procedures, and validate and verify molecular assays
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs and technical documentation, and monitor reagent stock and expiry
• Take part in audits, inspections and internal quality assessments
• Support diagnostic development and collaborate with laboratory teams to improve testing efficiency, accuracy and turnaround time

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or a related biological science
• Two to five years of hands-on experience in molecular diagnostics or a related laboratory setting
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary laboratory team

Required skills

• Practical experience with PCR-based techniques and molecular testing workflows
• Strong analytical, organisational and documentation skills
