Mining Specialist

About the role

Dangote Cement PLC, Ibese Plant is looking for a Mining Specialist to join its team. The role focuses on optimising extraction processes to ensure optimal production and efficiency, and suits someone with a passion for the cement industry who wants a challenging position.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies, including risk assessments and environmental impact evaluations, to ensure the viability of mining projects.
• Oversee and optimise extraction processes using various mining techniques to keep operations safe and efficient.
• Collaborate with geologists to assess the composition and distribution of mineral deposits.
• Develop detailed mining plans covering schedule, resource allocation and budgeting.
• Monitor operational performance and implement strategies to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements and promote a safety culture.
• Train and supervise engineering teams and other personnel.
• Maintain documentation of mining activities, including reports, project updates and compliance records.
• Engage with government agencies and local communities to ensure transparency and address concerns.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• At least 9 to 12 years of experience in mining operations or engineering.
• Strong understanding of mining laws, regulations and environmental standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Leadership and team management abilities, and effective communication with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to work in challenging environments and under tight deadlines.
