MICS Data Analyst – Child Well‑being & Urban Inequality (Remote, 9 mo)

About the role

The consultant will lead two thematic analyses of Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) data for Nigeria: a longitudinal and trend analysis of child well‑being and an urban inequality analysis. The work is home‑based and will support evidence‑based policy development.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive longitudinal analysis of MICS3‑MICS7 datasets focusing on child survival (including 1,000‑day indicators) and learning outcomes.
  • Identify key trends, disparities, and drivers of outcomes and develop a methodological framework in consultation with UNICEF and national partners.
  • Design a conceptual framework, detailed analysis plan, and summarize existing inter‑agency analyses.
  • Facilitate virtual workshops to build partner capacity for longitudinal analysis.
  • Produce three reporting products: a summary PowerPoint, a technical report, and a brief summary.
  • Carry out a child‑focused urban inequality analysis in four selected urban areas, including methodology development and stakeholder consultations.

Required profile

  • Advanced experience in quantitative research and statistical analysis of large household survey data.
  • Familiarity with MICS datasets and child‑well‑being indicators.
  • Proven ability to develop methodological frameworks and produce high‑quality technical reports.
  • Excellent communication skills for virtual stakeholder engagement.
