Medical Officer

About the role

A client in the medical space is hiring a Medical Officer. The successful candidate provides quality primary and emergency medical care to patients, covering assessment, diagnosis, treatment, documentation and referral where needed.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient consultations, physical examinations and clinical assessments.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Provide primary and emergency medical care, including initial stabilisation of emergencies.
• Request and interpret laboratory and diagnostic investigations, and prescribe medications and treatment plans.
• Refer patients to specialists or higher-level facilities when required.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Provide patient education and preventive healthcare counselling.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and medical ethics, and comply with clinical protocols, infection-control standards and regulations.
• Work with nurses, specialists and other healthcare professionals, and take part in clinical meetings, audits and quality-improvement activities.

Required profile

• Medical doctor with full Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) registration and a valid practising licence.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience after NYSC.
• Experience in emergency or primary healthcare settings.

Required skills

• Comfortable using EMR systems.
• Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and emergency management skills.
• Good clinical documentation and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
