Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner

About the role

Zendale Endoscopy is an endoscopy centre offering diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal services, including gastroenterology consultations, upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, variceal banding and PEG tube insertion. It is looking for a full-time, on-site Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner based in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, take detailed histories and perform focused physical examinations for patients with gastrointestinal conditions.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and collaborate with gastroenterologists on endoscopic procedures.
• Provide pre- and post-procedure education and follow-up care.
• Manage outpatient clinics and develop and adjust care plans.
• Prescribe medications within scope of practice and monitor treatment responses.
• Document clinical encounters accurately, support quality improvement initiatives and educate patients on prevention, lifestyle changes and long-term GI health.

Required profile

• Strong clinical foundation in Nursing and Medicine, with experience in gastroenterology or related specialties.
• Demonstrated Nurse Practitioner skills, including advanced assessment, clinical decision-making and safe prescribing within local regulations.
• Experience in primary care or outpatient settings, able to manage chronic and acute gastrointestinal conditions.
• Current nursing license and Nurse Practitioner certification valid in Nigeria; GI or endoscopy training is an advantage.
