Medical Officer Internship

About the role

We are seeking a motivated graduate to join our medical facility located on the IITA campus in Ibadan, Nigeria, as a Medical Officer Intern. The role offers hands‑on experience in a range of clinical areas under supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Manage common medical, surgical, OB‑GYN and paediatric conditions.
• Provide first‑aid emergency care for trauma, communicable and non‑communicable diseases.
• Deliver patient health education on hygiene, nutrition, lifestyle, family planning and disease prevention.
• Arrange referrals to external health facilities in liaison with the Family Physician.
• Assist with scheduling and coordination of specialist clinics.
• Conduct follow‑up with patients according to their clinical conditions.
• Investigate clinical problems using medical laboratory and diagnostic equipment.
• Perform point‑of‑care diagnostic testing.
• Collaborate with the Family Physician and unit head in clinical duties and discharge processes.
• Undertake any other duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

Required profile

• MBBS or MBChB degree.
• Completion of NYSC medical practice.
• Current annual medical practising licence.
• Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn and ability to follow through on tasks.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
